join us for the return of our puzzle competition!

friday, august 15th at 7:00 pm. 

teams of four will get the same 500 piece puzzle to complete over an hour and a half. the first team to finish will win a neighbor books gift card for each team member, so grab three of the best puzzlers you know and join together for the win.

mcmurtry night

larry mcmurtry was a legendary, texan author who penned such works as lonesome dove and the last picture show.

since his death in 2021, his good friend george getschow has become his literary torch bearer, carrying on the legacy of the renowned writer.

george will join us on august 23rd to discuss larry’s work and legacy, chronicled in the edited collection pastures of the empty page.

george will also share about the work happening with the larry mcmurtry literary center in archer city, texas. if you’re a fan of westerns, texas authors, or larry mcmurtry, you won’t want to miss this!

storytime w/ natasha khan kazi

Bela and Lily is a heartwarming picture book about two young girls who don’t speak the same language and still become fast friends, written and illustrated by Bangladeshi American writer and artist, Natasha Khan Kazi.

we’re excited to participate in two great offsite events this month!

the sotenn block party and night market takes place august 29th and is a free, community-driven celebration right on south tennessee street with live music, local food trucks, artist tents, and unique marketplace vendors.

the mckinney literary fest takes place august 23rd and 24th and is designed to connect local authors with literature lovers from throughout our north texas community. more than 40 local authors will be onsite throughout the event. neighbor will also have a local author display throughout the week leading up to the event, curated by the literary fest organizers.
